How to add an A record for a subdomain in Cloudflare

Simple Steps (Cloudflare)

  1. Log in to Cloudflare

    • Go to cloudflare.com and sign in.

  2. Select Your Domain

    • Click the domain you want (e.g. new.domain.com).

  3. Open DNS Settings

    • Click DNS from the top menu.

  4. Add a New Record

    • Click the Add record button.

  5. Fill the Record Details

    • Type: A

    • Name:

      • Enter the subdomain only

        • Example: sub (this becomes sub.domain.com)

    • IPv4 address:

      • Enter your server IP (example: 65.181.111.166)

    • TTL: Auto

    • Proxy status:

      • Click the cloud icon to make it DNS only (gray cloud)
        ⚠️ Important for mail & servers

  6. Save

    • Click Save
