Process Of Migration

Updated on April 7, 2022

With all of our hosting packages, Listed Hosting provides a free migration service. This means that we can migrate your site with little or no downtime; all we need are your existing hosting log-in credentials so that we can access your files and database (s). To begin, submit a support request and tell us which site you’d want to migrate as well as the instructions for how we can get into your former server. Migrations can take a few days, depending on the site’s complexity and our ability to transfer everything swiftly. We’ll keep you informed about the migration’s progress via the support ticket system. There will also be a chance to try out the site prior to the nameserver change over by updating your hosts’ file.

Certain migrations are easier than others; for example, if you’re moving from another provider who uses cPanel, we can move everything in one go, including your site files, databases, emails, and everything else under your existing account. We’d create a full cPanel backup file and then import it over to your hosting with us; this will overwrite whatever you’ve already uploaded with us with your old hosting files.

We’ll need your current hosts’ cPanel login information for this, and it’s also critical that your host permits you to create your own cPanel account backups (unfortunately some hosts disable this). If you have any concerns, please let us know ahead of time so that we can ensure that the entire backup can be created properly.

If your provider does not use cPanel, we will manually copy your site files and get a copy of your database using FTP (or SSH, if available) (s). Unfortunately, we are unable to migrate email accounts from providers that do not use cPanel at this time; however, once the transfer is complete, you can recreate these in your cPanel with us.

After the migration is finished, you’ll need to adjust the domain’s nameservers to point to:-

cloud1.listedhosting.net

cloud2.listedhosting.net

Once the nameservers have been adjusted, your domain name will point to your freshly moved website at Listed Hosting.
